PBX Security Features for Office and Home


PBX Security Features enable to monitor home office by adding sensors, playing automatic messages, dialing out preset number automatically.

PBX or Private Branch Exchange traditionally provides intercom facility to users connected to PBX. Make and receive calls from/to outside using PSTN line.

PBX size varies from small, Medium and Large depending on number of users and PSTN lines connection. Small PBX’s is used in SOHO segment (Small Office Home Office).

Since it is used in homes and small offices, now-a-days some PBX has got security features  besides normal calling function to monitor particular office room or homes.

1. Room Monitoring from Outside

Enable user from outside to monitor the room sound or conversation from using DISA Feature. A user has to call his home telephone line and dial that particular room extension number and activate the built-in microphone of Multi-Line Terminal.

Once microphone is activated you can listen to the sound or conversation in that room. Multi-Line Terminal is a special kind of phone. This feature can be password protected for secure operation.

2. Warning Message

Enable to play pre-recorded message automatically and periodically from built-in Speaker of Multi-Line Terminal as “Warning Message” during Night Mode.

It is expected to act as a deterrent even if there is no tight security facility available.

3. With 3rd Party PIR Equipment

Enable to connect 3rd Party PIR (Passive Infrared Sensor) equipment for Guard feature. When the system detects the signal (Motion detection Signal) from connected PIR (3rd Party Product), pre-recorded Warning Message is paged to the built-in Speaker on Multi-Line Terminals (and/or Paging Speaker).

System automatically places an outgoing call to the pre-programmed destination as emergency call. (pre-recorded message shall be sent after answering)

4. With 3rd Party Push Button Equipment

Enable to accommodate the 3rd Party Emergency Button for Security feature. In the event of emergency, user presses an emergency button to request further help.

When the system detects the signal from emergency button (3rd Party Product), pre-recorded Warning Message is paged to the built-in Speaker on Multi-Line Terminals (and/or Paging Speaker), and the system automatically places an outgoing call to the pre-programmed destination as emergency call. (pre-recorded message shall be sent after answering)

5. Remote Inspection

PBX automatically ring the terminal with pre-programmed schedule in order to check whether users answer or not.When the user does not answer the call, system places an auto-emergency call with pre-recorded message to the pre-programmed destination.

6. Door phone

Enable to connect Door phone box to the system. User can talk to the visitor standing at the door, upon confirmation user can dial a code from the telephone to UN-lock the door by releasing the electro magnet for specific time period.

The PBX Security features may not be available with all models and brands of PBX. Also need to check with the local authorities to use these features.
